Southern Cross Care (Broken Hill) Ltd is an autonomous company, limited by guarantee, with affiliations to Southern Cross Care Australia.
Southern Cross Care (Broken Hill) Ltd is recognised by the Australian Tax Office as a Public Benevolent Institution pursuant to Section 78 of the Income Tax Assessment Act. That is a registered or exempt charity, operational in NSW.
The Board control and manage the affairs of Southern Cross Care (Broken Hill) Ltd and have the power to perform all such acts and do all such things as to appear to the Board to be necessary or desirable for the proper management of the affairs of Southern Cross Care (Broken Hill) Ltd.
Ten of the twelve Directors of the Board of Southern Cross Care (Broken Hill) are members of the Knights of the Southern Cross Branch 14, Broken Hill. A further two Directors are selected by the Board to fill specific areas of expertise. Members of the Board do not receive any remuneration.
The Knights of the Southern Cross (KSC) is an Order of Catholic men committed to promoting the Catholic way of life throughout Australia.
One of the stated objects of the Order is “To conduct and support educational, charitable, religious and social welfare work” In striving to achieve this objective, Age care has become a major focus for the social welfare work of the organisation throughout the nation.
